How can improving my diet decrease my risk of Heart Disease?
Even without losing weight, your food choices can help control blood sugar, hypertension and lower cholesterol. By improving your metabolic fitness, you can lower your risk for heart disease.
My doctor said that I have pre-diabetes, what can I do?
Nutrition Advantage will help you learn which foods contribute to increased blood sugar. This is the first step in addressing pre-diabetes. Often, a weight loss of 5-10% can improve glycemic control as well.
How can a dietitian help me with my eating disorder?
Nutrition Advantage will work as part of a team of health professionals to care for your needs. Deborah will help you make food choices that will provide adequate nutrition, and help reduce your anxiety about food. Other members of your team should include your doctor and therapist.
What types of patients does Nutrition Advantage see?
Deborah has experience with Anorexic, Bulimic and compulsive eating patients.
How can my diet affect my performance as an athlete?
How an athlete fuels his/her body can have huge implications on performance. Hydration, carbohydrate intake, and pre/post game or event eating are important nutrition events to explore.
Does Nutrition Advantage work with teams or individual athletes?
Both individuals and teams can benefit from sports nutrition counseling. Deborah has experience in both areas. Current and past clients include Miami University Women’s Basketball and Volleyball teams, as well as many individual athletes. Deborah has been a guest lecturer for the University of Dayton on the topics of Sports Nutrition and Eating Disorders.
How often will I see the Dietitian for individual counseling?
Your dietitian will guide and support you but you ultimately determine the answer based on your needs and goals. On average, effective nutrition therapy takes 3-4 sessions for a clinical issue, more for behavioral changes.
How much will this cost me?
The rate is $130 per 55-minute session ($70 / 25-minute). Insurance coverage varies for medical nutrition therapy. Visits are charged to you at the time of service. Deborah is a provider for United HealthCare insurance, Anthem, Aetna and Medical Mutual of Ohio. Call for more information.
Will I need a physician referral?
Check with your provider before you visit to help you later obtain reimbursement for the therapy. Typically UHC and Aetna members do not require a physician referral.
What Insurance does Nutrition Advantage Accept?
Our dietitians are providers with Anthem, Aetna, UnitedHealthCare, and Medical Mutual. Other insurance may cover your sessions. Please contact your individual carrier for specific information about Nutrition Service Coverage. Please note that the provider name may be listed as either Nutrition Advantage, llc or Deborah Serenius.
